Heritage Days Weekend In Our Small Town! Killer Safety Cones & Pee Cups Oh My!!

I thought I would share a few picture from our small town celebration this past weekend. Let me warn you now that there ARE some ODDITIES. You know like a set of orange cones being towed behind a tree-shredder and the typical PEE CUP, you know the "typical" things you might see in a Parade, LOL.

Here is the first few handfuls of candy being thrown out and quickly gathered by the kids. This is "Cheeky's" first memorable parade. He is content {for now} to just watch the other kids.

He finally see's his FAVORITE treat, the Dum-Dum Lollipops, so he ventures out to grab it.

And a few more he spied, apparently other kids don't find them as great as he does.

Yep, this is the PEE CUP coming down the street! Really!?! Who has ever had a pee-cup involved with their parade? I understand that the local clinic wants a mascot, but there HAS to be something else they could use! Being handed a pencil and lip-balm from a pee-cup seems wrong on soooo many levels!

Here is the tree-shredder, LOL. As a side-note, they forgot about the cones after the parade. We saw them at the corner from the other side of the street, while walking towards downtown. The second they made their  turn, I said " I wonder if they remembered to pick up the cones?" NOPE they forgot, so in midst of their turn we had to jump over the rope. To their credit, they did pull over right after and pick them up, LOL

Cheeky's biggest excitement of the whole parade, was not the candy, motorcyles, or firetrucks. Nope, here you see his reaction to the little short yellow school bus! I could not stop laughing, he was just so excited!

Here is the haul, it looks like Halloween came a little early this year!

Competition Mud Volleyball is the biggest event that we have! It goes on for both days of Heritage Days. It takes forever to get down to the top three winning teams. I must admit it does look like a blast! Only problem is, after all is done the mud stays! For ALL the kids to wallow in, do you have any idea how many shoes and clothes we go through because of this! How many boxes Q-tips need to be used to clean out ears?!
