Reading Horizons Discover Intensive Phonics for Yourself Kit Giveaway

Imagine you're a child who is learning or has just learned to read. Now imagine that you come across this word: makngot. Your job, as a reader, is to look at that word and figure out what it is and what it means.

If you're one of the children who has mastered the ideas behind breaking down a word, evaluating what sound each letter makes, and how that letter fits with the letters beside it, you're probably going to realize that's not really a word. If, on the other hand, you're a child who has reading difficulties, you might not ever figure out that word is not really a word. Sure, you might recognize the letters. You might even be able to put a few of those letters together. But you might never realize that, no matter how much you sound it out or study it, you're never going to be able to turn it into something that makes sense.

There are many programs on the market targeted at children who have difficulty reading. Rhonda, from A Savvy Shopper, used one of the more well-known programs as reinforcement for her boys when they were learning to read. Now her girls are in third grade, and they are coming home with lists of vocabulary and spelling words and reading assignments. The problem is, though one of her daughters is an advanced reader, the other one struggles. This daughter is in the category of children who could study on a word forever before finally figuring out what the word is -- if she doesn't lose patience and finally just skip over that word entirely. Since so much of what we do in life involves reading, her daughter's difficulty with reading really concerns Rhonda. She had the opportunity to evaluate and review a program called Discover Intensive Phonics for Yourself, from Reading Horizons.

In addition to providing Rhonda a copy for review, Reading Horizons wants to share the gift of literacy with one lucky reader, and they have provided a copy of this program to give away! Please take a moment to read A Savvy Shopper's evaluation of the Reading Horizons program and what makes it different from other programs available for struggling readers, and then complete the entry form below for the chance to win your own program...
