I have never before attempted to take any kind of furniture and redo it. My brain might still be a bit gone, from the recovery of Pneumonia that I am finally starting to recover from. I am glad that I am getting back to getting things done, however crazy they may be!
This was a cabinet that we got free, I use it in the kitchen for food storage. When we got it about a year ago, I had no clue what I could do with it. The whole thing was painted with black chalkboard paint, in which some of writing done by a child stained it.

Last weekend, we all decided to visit the local drop-off for paints or what-not that were deamed to dangerous to throw into the landfill. Everything is available at no-cost, and I must admit I was leery at what we might find. The place was amazing, just the amount of full gallons of paint were shelved throughout the building. I did notice a lot of other materials, such as stains, cleaners, glues, wallpaper adhesive. But I decided I wanted paint for some small projects.
Here is the side of the cabinet, still covered with the black chalkboard paint. I have only done the front because I am unsure if I like what has been done. Personally, with no creative bone in my body-it surprises me that I got up the gaul to do this.
As you can see I picked up a bright yellow and a lighter green. The yellow is much brighter than I expected, but it is nicer than the black. I then got the brainy idea that I could use some of my scrapbooking stencils and the corner of a sponge to dab on some designs. Thinking I lucked out that the two colors seem to compliment each other.
I am sure that this weekend I will finish the whole thing. Have to admit that I am a little proud of how it turned out for my first try at this kind of thing. I am not sure how it will be in the end, but it's a start.
