I have seen these all over various towns, but never used one. I think that this deal is causing me to at least give it a shot. We don't have cable and only get 5-6 channels of regular tv, I think we have seen all of our used DVD's & VHS tapes at least twice. So, this would be a welcoming idea to everyone in the household.
My thoughts are using it as a reward each Friday or Saturday night. The family gets to vote on the new movie that we will get to watch on our "Movie Night".
Yes, we still do this-we make pizza's for dinner, then popcorn and other snacks, grab blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals-then hunker down in the livingroom for a night of movie watching.
Our small town just had one of these installed down the block at our local gas station, so it is not a long trek to go get one or take it back the next day. What caught my eye on this Redbox deal was that even after our free trial, it would only cost is $8/month for rentals-that's only $2/week. I can easily fit that into our budget, especially since it is for a family-time activity. I am only sticking to the 4 rentals per month after the free trial, but one could surely go over that and pay any extra fees.
There is also a free unlimited streaming offer that goes with the free 4 rentals. I don't allow the watching of shows/movies on the computer, but for those that do this would be perfect!
Here are the original details that caught my eye:
"Unlimited streaming PLUS 4 free kiosk rental credits per month for subscribed users. Join Redbox Instant by Verizon for unlimited streaming movies PLUS 4 DVD rental credits at any Redbox kiosk. Join today to get started!
Stream to your computer, Xbox 360, Samsung Smart TV & Blu-ray players, Apple iPhones & iPads, and Android phones & tablets!
After trial, just $8/mo and you'll continue to enjoy 4 Redbox DVD credits every month.
Each credit is good for 1 overnight rental of 1 DVD. If you keep your DVD an extra night, it just uses another credit. You won't be charged until your credits are all used up. And the next month it refills to 4 DVD credits again."
