Bobby {A Short Horror Story} By Scott Zavoda--Strap Yourself In For A Gut Wrenching Emotional Roller Coaster Ride

I was given the chance to review at no cost, an intriguing short story by Scott Zavoda. This review is 100% my own and has not been swayed by any means. At first glance I was unsure what this book was going to be about. Yes, obviously it has something to do with a wheelchair- but what you would assume it is about is the furthest thing away from what is written within the pages.
From the beginning to end Bobby A Short Story had me crying, cheering, sobbing, furious, hate-filled, relieved, and much more. It was honestly an emotional roller coaster ride for me, one that I had no idea was coming. First off I really should fill you in on the books summary;

"It's the summer of 1979. The weather is fantastic, and Danny can't wait to take Bobby, his disabled younger brother, fishing today, away from Dad, away from everything. But Danny has been frightened of Bobby's wheelchair ever since
hearing of its terrible history. But those are just stories. They haven't any idea what can really happen, and they certainly aren't prepared for what awaits them today at Grady Pond."

This heart-wrenching story is so full of descriptive scenes and wonderful character development, that I am amazed that it is only 40 pages long. I was able to easily picture each scene being played out in my own mind. This is a unique treasure of a short story, and I am not just blowing smoke.  The emotional whirlwind that took place in the hour long read {I had to take a few breaks} is something that I will not soon forget. I feel a new sense of wonder about the "karma" that some things may hold, such as a wheelchair with bad history. This book takes you through some very rough emotions, hatred being the hardest for me to realize for myself. I have never found myself so engrossed with the characters, that this strong of a feeling would emerge. But it did, and yes the twist at the end was the perfect end to one of my favorite reads of the year.

If you choose to purchase this short story, it is available for 99¢ on Amazon. Let me suggest after your purchase and after you finish reading, take a moment and read the "Afterward". I found this to be fascinating, especially how some of the scenes were partially taken from real life. After reading this book, I am pleased to find out that he is the author of more books. I promise you that this is an author that will be on my "have to read" list for a long time to come. I will be reading more of his work.
