Shhh! My Child's FINALLY Peacefully Sleeping Thanks To Sleep and Your Child's Temperament & Giveaway

I would like to thank Rebecca Michi for allowing me to read a copy of Sleep and Your Child's Temperament, in exchange for my views on her book. After having 8 kids, you would think I would have this sleep-thing down pat. Well, I have always had issues with my all of my children. No issue was the same with any of them. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read this, as it has completely changed how I handle my kids at bedtime.

In Sleep and Your Child’s Temperament, you will discover how important your child’s personality is in achieving the rest they need. You will learn how to help your child - and you - get a good night’s sleep. Honestly, a veteren mother like me did not put to much faith into that previous statement. After reading the book, implementing techniques, gathering knowledge, and reading accounts from other mothers I am whistling a totally different tune.
My 3 year old was a wild child when it came to his bedtime. He has always had a routine-bath, pj's, reading 1 or 2 bedtime stories, prayer, and Twinkle Twinkle sung by me. This is how it was from the first month on. No matter what order we did these in or what changes I tried, it never stopped him from fighting falling asleep. Of course I came to find out that my sweet baby boy falls into the "Difficult Child" to train category, go figure.

After, reading this book I came to find out that Chapter 3 {Creating Routines That Work} is where I needed to begin tweaking my plan. It never occurred to me that I had to take the whole daily routine into account for a bedtime routine to become more successful.

I enjoyed the fact that Sleep and Your Child's Temperament included many question and answer format pages. This is set up like a "Dear so and so, I have {this problem-what do I do?} and then a letter back giving an answer. The book itself is brimming with tips and tricks, including a lot of problem solving suggestions.

It took us 3 weeks to get into a fairly good full routine. It still has it's ups and downs, but for the most part bedtime is now a less chaos event. The whole family is able to enjoy the process of bedtime and look forward to it. I recommend this book for both new parents,  the more "seasoned" parents, caregivers, or anyone that deals with children.

Seems like a great book! My daughter doesn't want to go to sleep most of the evenings and it's a total chaos.

I totally understand that, sounds just like my 3 year old son. But the book really did help in having me realize simple things I could be doing. Chaos is something that I deal with all day long, at night-time I just have to have it end.
