This is the newest tag team diorama duo from Giant Microbes. Please meet the not-so-popular and avoided woodland critter, Tick. Tick could never leave behind his side kick, the dreaded Lyme Disease. My kids have subsequently re-named them Tock and Lemon.
This pair are pretty much inseparable, always on the lookout for their next unsuspectingvictim, I mean "free meal". Tick is the master of elusive travel, while Lyme, his very quiet sidekick lurks in the background patiently waiting his turn to deploy his silent attack.
This pair may look all cute and cuddly, but please take heed, they are dangerous. Tick can feel you coming from quite a distance. He can begin planning his attack at first sense of heat or each exhale of breath. At the moment Tick senses motion, he is known to jump from the recesses of trees or hop off the top of the longest grass blades, in order to grasp his "meal".
Look into those beady little eyes, become mesmerized by his stare, go ahead be taken in by the innocent little critter. Don't say I didn't warn you though, he is only thinking about one thing, your blood and how he is going to get it! Tick is well known for his stealth techniques in hiding, his successful missions of going unnoticed for significant periods of time.
As you can see by this tag, which is firmly attached to Tick, this is why he is so successful in his missions. This shows Tick's size at 1,000,000 times his normal. In other words that picture is of Tick if he were super-sized.
I know what you are thinking, there is no way this adorable little thing could harm a fly. That is where you {Like myself} would be very wrong. These buggers have those protruding "fang-like" extensions that are actually barbed! Tick is able to "snag" his target by plunging those into an unsuspecting victim easily, since the victim doesn't take notice, the blood-feast can begin. Luckily, some ticks can be done with their victims within an hour and leave unnoticed. While others can stay indefinitely until they are evicted by the victim.
This eviction process is where Lyme takes advantage of his special tactics in attack.
Lyme has been around for a very long time, only becoming headline news in the early 1980's. Lyme quickly climbed the charts to the #1 tick-borne illnesses.
Tick is always on the look-out for his next "target", while Lyme is known to leave a "target" or bulls-eye as only one of the victims possible symptoms.
Again, this tag shows the size of Lyme Disease {or scientifically named Borrelia burgdorferi}at 1,000,000 times magnified. Flip this tag open and you will be able to arm yourself with information on the signature symptoms to look for if you suspect you might be infected. This pair are pretty much inseparable, always on the lookout for their next unsuspecting

He is pretty cute though, isn't he. This little squiggle can really wreak havoc on your body, and it can take up to a month before you notice the Lyme's signature bull's-eye.
One the bottom of the box, there is even more information on this gouhlish duo. It will help in giving you some background on both Tick and Lyme, giving you a better understanding what you are up against on your innocent walks through the picturesque scenery.
We were graciously offered this tag-team to review from Giant Microbes. As a family, we have loving adopted these critters. Giant Microbes offers many germs, bugs, diseases, and much more to be purchased and added to your own family.
I love these both from a mother's point of view and from a homeschooling view, these were a welcomed addition to teaching about the dangers of our own innocent walks in the woods.
The uniqueness and adaptability to use these for teaching moments has proved to be priceless to me. I believe that any selection from Giant Microbes would be worth its weight in gold. My kids really became more interested in the topics we covered, because they were able to hold, inspect, and yes even cuddle these soft plush critters.
Giant Microbes offers more than just the plush, they also have coffee cups, neckties, t-shirts, and a soap dispenser. The prices are very reasonable and range from $8.95 on up. The amount of selections available from Giant Microbes is amazing!
Please visit Giant Microbes and search for your favorite. You can visit them here. You can also sign up for their newsletter, so that you can stay up-to-date on new arrivals or sales.
Be sure to give them some "love" on their Twitter or Facebook, they would enjoy hearing what you think of them!

Great review! I didn't know all that about Lyme disease and I'm in Texas!
OMG! super cute! Kinda creepy that they are a tick and Lyme disease but still cute little stuffies!
I hate ticks.
Thank you all for your comments. We are always trekking through wooded areas in nature parks and such, I am always paranoid that the kids or myself will be covered in them. I am not fond of them either.
What surprised me is the fact that the day we actually walked around the block, on the pavement and nowhere else, I got home and found one beginning to crawl up my sock!
I didn't know until we got these, that they actually can get you from above. There was a bunch of stuff that we learned through this set.
This was very informative!!! Thank you so much for this.. There are alot of people that have no idea about this at all!!
I love the Giant Microbes! I think they are a great way to teach children about things that can make them sick. Great Review!
