Wordless Wednesday--A Lesson In Growing A Hard-Shell: Our Adoption Story x 2

I am just going to give a little background on these two characters. The bigger one was found last summer on the road, he was {at the time} the same size as the smaller. I almost kicked him while walking, I mistook him for a pebble. The smaller of the 2 was found a few weeks ago and since we had no way to transport him-we improvised by drinking a Capri-Sun, using keys to cut the pouch in half, added some water, and put him in.

At first the bigger one was terrified of the little one. He provided entertainment as he tried to escape the little one after being introduced into the tank. My husband informed me that the big one needed feeder fish for his diet. I argued and lost, so we bought feeder fish for big turtle. They are now to big to eat and have become our new pets. The big turtle actually thinks they are his friends.

After a few days both big and little turtle have become very good friends. We are in the process of creating a huge habitat for them in a very large tank, it will have both land and water included! How spoiled they are!

How neat that you are able to adopt turtles! I live in the desert near Joshua Tree Natl Park, and the desert tortoise that we have, it is against the law to even touch them.

Thanks for linking up at Royalegacy Reviews & More Wordless Wednesday for 7/31

They're so adorable! My mom has the same kind of turtle. He was as little as yours was when my brother found him on a golf course. That was about 25 years ago!
Glad your turtles are friends now! :)

Thanks all for the great support. We only ended up with these because they were way out of their natural habitat. They were found nowhere near any water, actually in the middle of the street. Honestly, I believe a bird may have scooped them up and accidently dropped them {thank goodness}.

I am so excited about the new habitat we are building-we are almost finished and are going to be able to relocate them into the new tank very soon.
