Warm Up Your Morning With This Creamy Apple-Raisin Oatmeal

This will be perfect for any morning, but I am thinking it is going to hit the spot tomorrow morning! Someone has forgotten to tell Minnesota that Spring is here, as we are getting dumped on once again by snow! This scrumptious oatmeal only takes 10 minutes to make from start to finish-great for those of us that are not good morning people.

This is simple enough for my older kids to prepare for themselves. I found this recipe at the Pillsbury website. The website is astounding in the amount of recipes, both simple and sophisticated. You can sign up for their free newsletter and get the highlighted recipe of the day sent to your inbox! You also get to become a member of the "Not-So-Secret" Club, you can then get special offers and promotions for things like really neat free items!

Ingredients:

1/3 cup quick-cooking oats

1 tablespoon raisins

2/3 cup apple juice

2 teaspoons packed brown sugar, if desired

Going Bananas French Toast {Brought To You By FullPlateLiving}

Our family loves to make French Toast, especially on Saturday mornings. This is usually the only day that our family takes the time to spend the whole day together, which really means no interruptions allowed from the outside influences. For example; no friends are allowed over that day unless Mom or Dad have planned something in advance that calls for them to be there-usually for a few game night or movie nights.

I try to make weekends as uncomplicated as possible, it is the only time hubby is home from work, to spend quality time with the kids. Having an easy Saturday morning breakfast planned as it sets the mood for the rest of the day. I came across this recipe that I would like to incorporate into our arsenal of breakfast treats. The bonus is that it is a much healthier version for the family, but just as simple to make.

Total Time 35 Min
Prep 5 Min
Cook 30 Min
Yields 8 Servings

Ingredients

2 medium bananas sliced
3/4 cup vanilla soy milk
1 teaspoon cinnamon (ground)
8 slices whole wheat bread
vegetable oil spray

Directions

Place the bananas, soy milk, and cinnamon in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Pour the mixture into a pie plate. Dip each slice of bread into the mixture, making sure it absorbs the liquid well. Cook each slice on a hot griddle which has been misted with cooking spray. Cook over medium high heat until browned, and then flip to brown on the other side. Serve immediately, accompanied by your favorite fruit topping.

I think this easily could be multiplied to make more servings, we most definitely would not be able to serve only 8 Servings. I hope to try this out and give any updated information for larger families.

Homemade Polka Dot Fruit Roll Ups

This is ingenious well at least to me it is. The kids love fruit roll-ups, but they are way too pricey in the stores. A box wouldn't even be able to give each child one roll-up in this household.

I have tried a few times to make our own, for some reason they came out sticky and resembled fruit irregular "patches" instead. Probably due to lack of focus with the kids running around. I would love to try again. This recipe from Fix Me A Snack was too cute to ignore.

Head over to Fix Me A Snack and grab this easy recipe for fruit roll-ups. Towards the bottom of the post, they also share a few other recipes for fruit-rolls ups, be sure to take a gander at those too.

Would love if anyone would share any tried and true recipes of their own!

Simple Homemade Dishwasher Detergent Cubes

{Photo Credit: Louise's Country Closet}

I absolutely love this very simple recipe that was shared over at Louise's Country Closet. You only need 4 commonly found ingredients to make these, and the cost is much more affordable than purchasing from a store.

Please head over here to get the recipe and directions for this money saving project.

Be sure to check out the comments for ideas on how to sterilize your dishwasher  as water temperatures may not be suitable enough to do the job.
